ACT

Terms

The terms, such as they are.

Short, because there is not much to agree to. The two that matter are that this app has no connection to ACT, Inc., and that the score it predicts is a prediction rather than a result.

    What this is

A study tool run by one person for a small number of students. It is not a business, it has no uptime commitment, and it can be taken down or changed without notice. Use it the way you would use a study aid a friend built: it is good, and it is not something to plan around as though it were infrastructure.

  2. 02

    Not affiliated with ACT

ACT® is a registered trademark of ACT, Inc. This app is independent of ACT, Inc., is not endorsed or approved by them, and none of the questions in it are real ACT items. The name is used to say which test the app prepares you for, and for nothing else.

  3. 03

    Your account

One person to an account, because every number in the app — the mastery, the plan, the predicted score — is an estimate about one person’s work. Sharing sign-in details with somebody who then answers questions does not cheat the app, it just makes its estimate of you wrong. Keep the details to yourself, and tell me if you think somebody else has them.

  4. 04

The predicted score is a prediction

It is calculated from the questions you have answered here and nothing else. It is not a score from ACT, it is not a practice-test result, and it is not a promise about test day.

The app already declines to print a number it cannot support: nothing is shown until fifteen timed answers exist in a section, and only a range until forty. Treat the number it does print the same way — as the best guess available from the evidence, which will move as more arrives.

  5. 05

    The questions can be wrong

Most of the bank is written by hand. Some questions are written on demand by a language model and only shown to you if a second model, given the question cold, agrees on the answer. That check catches a great deal and it does not catch everything. A question that looks wrong probably is — say so rather than assuming you have misunderstood it.

  6. 06

What not to do with it

Do not copy the question bank out to republish or sell it, do not point automated traffic at it, and do not try to reach another student’s work. The first two cost money that one person is paying; the third is the only thing here I would treat as serious.

  7. 07

    Ending it

You can stop at any time, and asking for deletion is covered by the privacy policy. I can close an account that is being used to do any of the things in the clause above.

  8. 08

    No warranty

The app is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind, and the person running it is not liable for anything that follows from using it — including a score on a real test. That is the standard sentence and it is also the honest one: a study tool cannot promise a result, and one built by a single person in his spare time certainly cannot.

  9. 09

    When these change

The date above moves when the substance does. Anything you disagree with goes to furr.christian@gmail.com, and continuing to use the app after a change means the new version applies.
